Daniel Oyetunde: Arsenal confirm striker who looks up to Thierry Henry and Saka has signed pro deal

With a statement on the official website, Arsenal have confirmed that Nigerian striker Daniel Oyetunde has signed his first professional contract.

Although the new deal was announced on Tuesday, Oyetunde has already reported for pre-season training and participated in Saturday's 2-2 draw with National League club Boreham Wood.

In his second year as a scholar last season, he recorded four goal contributions (2 goals, 2 assists) across 10 appearances in the U18 Premier League.

The young striker has set his sights on a breakthrough campaign in the 2025-2026 season.

Describing himself as a quick and agile forward, Daniel has cited Arsenal legend Thierry Henry and former Nigeria Football Federation target Bukayo Saka as his role models.

Speaking after signing his first pro deal, Oyetunde stated: "For me, I think establishing myself in the under-21's team and when given the opportunity to play any higher, taking it or train any higher, taking that opportunity.

"Also trying to stay fit and just taking every day an opportunity as it comes.

"Some of my biggest inspirations would be Thierry Henry and in the current first team maybe Bukayo Saka."

The 18-year-old Oyetunde made his debuts in the FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League during the 2023-2024 campaign.

This is his fifth year at Arsenal, having joined the north London club at U15 level.
