Super Eagles CB Fredrick leads Nigerian quintet in Brentford B squad for 2025-26 season
Published: July 16, 2025
Premier League side Brentford have confirmed their B team squad for the 2025-2026 season, with five players of Nigerian descent part of the team.
Despite speculation over his future at the Bees, Nigeria international Benjamin Fredrick has been included in the squad list unveiled by the club's official website.
The young defender has seen his stock rise after making his senior debut for the Super Eagles in the Unity Cup final against Jamaica, before earning a surprise call-up for the high-profile friendly against Russia the following month, though he was an unused substitute in Moscow.
Named Brentford U21s Players' Player of the Year at the club's 2024-2025 end-of-season awards, Fredrick has yet to make his first team debut since his arrival at the Bees.
The 20-year-old joined Brentford on a permanent basis last summer from Nigerian outfit Simoiben FC, signing a four-year deal with an option for a further season, tying him to the Bees until at least 2028.
Fredrick has been named in six matchday squads for official matches, including Premier League games against Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, Aston Villa and Bournemouth.
Joining Fredrick in Brentford's B team squad are fellow Nigerians Val Adedokun, Gregory Asemokhai, Michael Olakigbe and Emeka Peters.
Of the quintet, only Olakigbe has featured at senior level for the London club, having made 12 appearances across the Premier League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
