Futures of three Super Eagles-eligible players in doubt as Chelsea make transfer decisions
Published: July 16, 2025
Super Eagles-eligible players Tyrique George, Carney Chukwuemeka and Lesley Ugochukwu are among a group of Chelsea stars facing an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge as the club continues its post-World Club Cup reshuffle, according to The Sun UK.
Fresh from lifting the FIFA Club World Cup, the Blues are now focused on trimming their squad ahead of the 2025/26 season, with as many as ten players potentially heading for the exit.
George, Chukwuemeka and Ugochukwu join a list of players whose futures are up in the air, which also includes high-profile names such as João Félix, Christopher Nkunku, Raheem Sterling, Ben Chilwell, Renato Veiga, Axel Disasi and Djordje Petrovic.
Tyrique George, 19, enjoyed a breakout season with the Chelsea teams last term, registering seven goals and eleven assists in 38 appearances across all competitions — a run of form that earned him Chelsea’s Men's Academy Player of the Year award.
Chelsea re still undecided whether to retain the promising attacker for the new season or send him out on loan, given the competition for places in attack.
Meanwhile, both Chukwuemeka and Ugochukwu have reportedly been made available for transfer, with Chelsea hopeful of offloading the midfield duo before the summer window closes.
Decisions regarding the futures of George and his fellow Nigeria-eligible teammates are expected in the coming weeks.
