Nigeria-eligible forward to end 11-year association with Chelsea after agreeing move to Fulham

Tyrique George's 11-year association with Chelsea is set to come to an end on Monday, with The Athletic reporting that Fulham are on the verge of completing the signing of the academy  in a deal worth £22 million plus a sell-on clause, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein.

The 19-year-old winger, who is eligible to represent England, Nigeria, and Ghana, has agreed personal terms on a five-year contract with the Cottagers.

He is expected to complete a medical in the coming hours before the transfer is officially finalized.

George’s move brings an end to his time at Stamford Bridge, where he progressed through the youth ranks and made history in April 2025 by becoming the youngest Nigerian–eligible player to score for Chelsea in the Premier League at 19 years and 75 days.

He also featured prominently in the Blues’ successful FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Conference League campaigns last season.

Despite his breakthrough, George was seeking greater first-team opportunities, a factor that attracted interest from several European clubs.

Roma had previously been in negotiations for his signature, but talks collapsed without an agreement.

Bundesliga sides RB Leipzig and Borussia Monchengladbach were also monitoring his situation before Fulham stepped in decisively.

Fulham manager Marco Silva has been keen to strengthen his attacking options, and the acquisition of George represents a significant investment in youth with long-term potential.

The sell-on clause ensures Chelsea will retain a financial interest in the winger’s future progress.
