Fifa U20 WC: Italy include Juventus, Atalanta, Bologna starlets of Nigerian descent in squad
Published: September 22, 2025
Italy U20 manager Carmine Nunziata has unveiled his 21-man squad for the upcoming 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile, with three players of Nigerian descent included in the travelling party.
Bologna loanee Wisdom Amey, Atalanta defender Javison Osarumwense Idele and Juventus forward Okoro have all been handed call-ups for the tournament.
Amey, born in Bassano del Grappa to a Nigerian mother and Togolese father, is already well known for his precocious rise.
The centre-back once held the record as the youngest debutant in Serie A before Francesco Camarda broke the milestone in 2023.
Idele, a Bergamo-born defender, has been making steady progress at Atalanta, impressing with the club's youth teams.
His development earned him a senior squad call-up for a Serie A clash against Roma in May 2025, though he did not feature.
Okoro, born in Vicenza in March 2005, has enjoyed an upward trajectory of his own.
After formative spells with Udinese, Pordenone and Venezia, the forward secured a move to Juventus during the summer transfer window.
Should Idele and Okoro take to the field in Chile, they would become provisionally cap-tied to Italy under Fifa regulations.
Italy open their campaign against Australia on Sunday, September 28, before facing Cuba on Wednesday, October 1, and conclude their group stage matches against Argentina on Saturday, October 4.
