'Soap opera with Inter didn't work out' – Transfer guru provides update on Lookman's Atalanta future
Published: September 22, 2025
Ademola Lookman made his long-awaited return to the pitch for Atalanta, coming on in the closing minutes against Torino, a move that confirmed coach Ivan Juric now considers the Nigerian winger fully reintegrated into the squad.
Transfer market expert Matteo Moretto reported that Atalanta have taken a clear stance on Lookman’s immediate future following a turbulent summer.
"The soap opera with Inter didn’t work out. Atletico never made an official offer for him," Moretto said as quoted by Sos Fanta.
"Yes, there were offers from Turkey at the end of the transfer window, but the formula wasn’t convincing to Atalanta."
The 27-year-old endured a difficult preseason, missing several training sessions and the final phase of preparation due to off-field distractions.
This left him short of match fitness and unable to complete 90 minutes, further complicating his situation in Bergamo.
Despite this, the club remains determined to restore Lookman to peak condition.
Atalanta’s stance is firm: they do not plan to sell Lookman in the January transfer window, according to Moretto.
Instead, the management wants him to stay and contribute across the season, with any potential discussions about his future postponed until next summer.
Lookman, who has been a decisive figure since joining Atalanta in 2022, is expected to play a vital role as the team looks to balance domestic ambitions with European commitments.
