'Surprising me in a positive way' - Ex-Parma forward praises Gift Orban's early impact at Verona
Published: September 25, 2025
Former Italian striker Andrea Pisanu, who enjoyed a long Serie A career with clubs including Verona, Parma, and Bologna, has expressed admiration for Gift Orban’s early impact at Hellas Verona.
Pisanu highlighted the young striker’s energy, commitment, and promising performances in Italy’s top flight.
Gift Orban has opened his goal account for Hellas Verona following a late summer move.
The striker converted a penalty in the 44th minute to secure a 1-1 draw against Juventus last weekend, immediately signaling his presence and potential in Serie A.
Pisanu spoke highly of Orban’s competitive drive and work ethic.
"He’s surprising me in a positive way, I like him,” Pisanu told Super News.
"I’m seeing a lot of competitive energy in him, and he always leaves the field having given everything.
"These are characteristics that the Verona fans really like, because even if the team struggles, they truly appreciate when players leave the field exhausted."
The former forward also emphasized the importance of having a goal-scoring presence for a club like Verona, which is focused on securing its place in the league.
"We know how important it is to have a striker who scores goals, especially for a team fighting for survival," Pisanu added.
"But I see in him a great desire to shine, knowing that this is a crucial opportunity for his career.
"It’s hard to say how many goals he’ll score, but I hope they’re the decisive ones to lead the team to safety."
Pisanu’s assessment underlines Orban’s potential to become a key figure for Hellas Verona, combining goal-scoring ability with a tireless work ethic.
As the season progresses, the young attacker could play a vital role in the club’s bid to remain competitive in Serie A, while also establishing himself as a rising talent to watch in Italian football.
