Jose Mourinho's Benfica among 15 clubs keeping tabs on Flying Eagles winger at U20 World Cup

Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report with certainty that Portuguese Primeira Liga giants Benfica are monitoring the progress of exciting Flying Eagles winger Tahir Maigana at the ongoing Fifa U20 World Cup in Chile.

However, The Eagles, coached by iconic Portuguese manager José Mourinho, face competition for his signature, with more than fourteen other clubs monitoring the Nigeria U20 international.

Benfica's talent spotters have special interest in Friday morning's showdown between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia as they are expected to run the rule over Maigana.

Top clubs from England, France, Germany, Belgium and Spain are also monitoring the Wireless Academy product with a view to a transfer.

A left-footed wide man who prefers to operate from the right flank, he has already drawn comparisons with Arsenal and England star Bukayo Saka.

Maigana was arguably the standout player for the Flying Eagles in their narrow 1-0 loss to Norway in their Fifa U20 World Cup opener on Monday.

As the seven-time African champions pushed for an equaliser, Maigana nearly drew them level, only to see his effort crash against the post shortly after the hour mark.

Benfica youth teamers Gianluca Prestianni (Argentina) and Joshua Wynder (United States) are among the players featuring at the ongoing tournament in Chile.
