Not only Osimhen and Dessers: Birmingham City fullback joins Super Eagles' walking wounded

Birmingham City fullback Bright Osayi-Samuel has joined Victor Osimhen and Cyriel Dessers among players nursing knocks ahead of Nigeria's 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

Osayi-Samuel, who signed for Birmingham City this summer, picked up an injury in his side's last outing against Sheffield Wednesday.

The 27-year-old was forced off in the 59th minute, with Marc Leonard coming on in his place.

Nigeria's talisman Victor Osimhen is also a worry for head coach Eric Chelle after he suffered cramps during Napoli's 1-0 Champions League win over Liverpool.

The striker, who scored the decisive penalty, appeared to be in discomfort before being substituted in the 72nd minute for Mauro Icardi.

Meanwhile, Cyriel Dessers has been sidelined in recent weeks, missing Panathinaikos' last two fixtures against Panetolikos and Go Ahead Eagles due to fitness issues.

Despite these concerns, all three players were named in Chelle's 23-man squad for the double-header.

The coach will be hoping his key men regain full fitness in time for the qualifiers, with Nigeria looking to secure qualification to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in USA, Canada, and Mexico.
