Former Juventus coach claims Lookman would have been a bench player at Inter Milan

Former Juventus coach Ciro Ferrara discussed Ademola Lookman's summer transfer situation during DAZN's post-match coverage of Inter Milan's game against Como.

Ferrara focused on the potential role Lookman would have played at Inter and why the transfer did not happen.

Inter had considered signing the Atalanta forward, but the deal fell through before the transfer window closed.

Ferrara explained that integrating Lookman into Cristian Chivu’s system would have required significant adjustments to the team’s established formation and tactical setup.

"Lookman would have been a bench player at Inter. To bring him in, you'd have had to change a lot, starting with the formation," Ferrara said, as quoted by lnerazzurro.

"I don't know if the right characteristics were there.

"Even though he's an important player, you'd have had to change a consolidated formation and tactical knowledge already ingrained in the starters."

Lookman played 73 minutes in their 1-1 draw against Como on Saturday before being substituted.

The reigning African Footballer of the Year will now join the Super Eagles for their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Lesotho and Republic of Benin.
