Made in Nigeria goal: Adams scores from Ejuke assist as Sevilla end 10-year winless run v Barcelona

Sevilla striker Akor Adams combined with fellow Nigerian Chidera Ejuke to seal a historic 4-1 victory over Barcelona at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium on Sunday, ending the Andalusian club's ten-year winless run in La Liga against the Catalan giants.

Both players were introduced in the second half and combined brilliantly for Sevilla's fourth goal deep into added time.

Ejuke, who replaced Alexis Sánchez in the 93rd minute, teed up Adams with a clever layoff following a swift counterattack, allowing the striker to slot calmly past goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny.

Adams had earlier come on in the 61st minute for Isaac Romero and wasted no time making his mark.

The goal was his second in six league matches after scoring the winner in Sevilla's 1-0 triumph over Rayo Vallecano last weekend.

The result marks Sevilla's first victory over Barcelona since October 2015, ending a frustrating run of 19 consecutive games without a win against the La Liga champions.

Adams' recent resurgence comes as a huge relief for both the player and his club after a difficult start to the season hampered by injuries.

The 25-year-old, who joined Sevilla from Montpellier during the winter transfer window, had missed two matches against Girona and Elche due to a hamstring issue.

With his return to form, Adams will be eager to carry his momentum into international duty as he prepares to link up with the Super Eagles for their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Lesotho and Benin.
