Flying Eagles team news: After injury scare against Saudi Arabia, Okoro cleared to face Colombia

Allnigeriasoccer.com can report with certainty that talented left-back Odinaka Okoro has been passed fit to feature for the Flying Eagles when they face Colombia in their  final group match at the 2025 Fifa U20 World Cup on Monday morning.

There were initial concerns over the Sporting Lagos defender's availability after he limped off late in Nigeria's dramatic 3-2 victory over Saudi Arabia.

Okoro was replaced by Azuka Alatan in the closing minutes, prompting fears of a possible injury setback.

However, subsequent medical examinations have provided encouraging news.

Tests revealed no major damage  and the teenager took part fully in the Flying Eagles' final training session on Saturday, confirming his readiness for selection.

A key figure under coach Aliyu Zubairu, the 18-year-old has established himself as one of the first names on the team sheet, starting five of six matches at the 2025 Africa U20 Cup of Nations and both of Nigeria's games so far in Chile.

As it stands, Nigeria sit third in Group F with three points and a goal difference of zero.

A win over Colombia would see them climb into the top two and secure automatic qualification for the knockout stage, while anything less would leave progression dependent on results elsewhere.

Okoro's availability comes as a timely boost for the Flying Eagles who are determined to extend their stay at the tournament.
