'A historic moment' - Super Eagles invitee Akor Adams reacts after goal against Barcelona
Published: October 06, 2025
Super Eagles invitee for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers Akor Adams could not hide his delight after finding the net in Sevilla's memorable 4-1 victory over FC Barcelona, describing the occasion as a 'historic moment' for both himself and the team.
After a slow start to his Sevilla career, Adams has started making headlines at home and abroad, with back-to-back goals in his last two outings in the Spanish top-flight, after coming off the bench.
Six minutes into stoppage time, Adams, a winter arrival from Montpellier, scored his first goal at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, slotting home from close range after the ball was put on a plate for him by Chidera Ejuke.
The former Flying Eagles star played in eight straight games before netting his first goal in Sevilla colours.
Reflecting on the performance, Adams was full of praise for his teammates and their collective effort, and admitted that Sevilla could have scored more goals in the opening half.
In quotes relayed by El Sevillista, Adams said: "This gives a lot of credit to the team. We've been in our own bubble, doing what we've worked on, and all that effort has paid off.
"It's a historic moment. We have to focus on the positives and leave everything else aside."
Adams also expressed joy at opening his account at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium, dedicating the strike to teammate Isaac Romero.
"Total madness. I want to give recognition to Isaac Romero. As for me, my first task was to defend and then push forward. I'm very happy to score my first goal at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán."
A total of ten players have contributed to Sevilla's goal tally this season, including Adams, Carmona, Agoumé, Sow, Vargas, Peque, Alfon, Alexis, Isaac and Lukebakio.
