VICTOR OBINNA Admits Chances Of Making Afcon Squad 'Slim'
Published: December 19, 2012
Victor Obinna, speaking to the microphone of Brila FM, has confessed that his chances of making Stephen Keshi's preliminary African Cup of Nations roster are very minimal.
The Lokomotiv Moscow offensive player has been in the international wilderness since last October's Afcon qualifier against Guinea.
''It’s been a year since I haven’t been invited to play for the Super Eagles but right now am on holidays and am still expecting a call but if not I will still do my best to support the team but my chances are very slim,'' Obinna told the radio station.
Despite his snub by coach Keshi, the ex Chievo Verona ace has lent his support to his colleagues, believing that they can win the trophy on February 10 next year.
''I always have the confidence that we can do well but the most important thing is for us to pray for each other, playing with commitment and being fully aware that there is something at stakes because Nigerians are craving for this trophy for a long time now, so I believe Nigeria can win the trophy,'' adds Obinna.
In conclusion, Victor Obinna cautioned the Super Eagles to approach all their games in South Africa with seriousness as there are no more minnows in African football.
