Victor Obinna Handed Four-Match Ban By German Federation
Published: May 29, 2016
Super Eagles striker Victor Obinna has been banned for four matches by the Sports Court of the German Football Association (DFB) following his dismissal against Würzburger Kickers in the Bundesliga 2 playoffs final last Tuesday.
The former Inter Milan and West Ham star was shown a straight red card in the 89th minute by referee Tobias Stieler.
Obinna and MSV Duisburg have stated that they will not appeal the decision of the DFB and the Nigerian will now miss the first four games of next season.
That said, the experienced frontman comes off contract with MSV Duisburg at the end of June and it is unclear if both parties will prolong their agreement as the club have been relegated to the third-tier.
The 29-year-old suffered an injury plagued season but still managed 16 appearances in the 2 Bundesliga and scored 3 goals.
