Released Tottenham Hotspur Midfielder Sonupe Trialing At Charlton Athletic
Published: July 09, 2016
Former Tottenham Hotspur youth-team attacking midfielder Emmanuel Sonupe is trying his luck at League One club Charlton Athletic and is hoping to impress new coach Russell Slade at the end of his trials.
The 20-year-old played the first forty five minutes of the Addicks 4-1 rout of Welling United in a pre-season fixture at Park View Road on Saturday.
Sonupe, who is searching for a new team following his release by Spurs in the summer, had a chance to double Charlton’s lead in the 21st minute but saw his strike kept out by goalkeeper Chris Lewington.
Born in London, he got his first taste of first team football during the 2014-2015 season while on loan at Scottish club St Mirren.
Meanwhile, ex-Manchester United striker Nicky Ajose bagged a hat-trick on his debut for Charlton Athletic after he was introduced at the start of the second half.
