QPR Winger Shodipo Advised By Mom To Choose Nigeria Ahead Of Republic Of Ireland
Published: August 10, 2016
Queens Park Rangers teenage sensation Olamide Shodipo has been advised by his doting mother, Kemi, to play for Nigeria internationally rather than the Republic of Ireland and England.
At the moment, the Republic of Ireland are ahead of Nigeria and the Three Lions in the race to secure the international future of Shodipo, who was born in Dublin nineteen years ago, and the winger has racked up four appearances for their U19 squad.
“It is too early to be precise where his international future lies, time will tell, ” said Olamide’s mom, Kemi Shodipo, to allnigeriasoccer.com.
“You know Olamide is an adult and he can only be guided but some decisions lies on him but as for me as a mother... Motherland on my mind! ”
Kemi revealed that Olamide Shodipo picked up a passion for football since he was a little child, and they had no choice but to offer him all the support he needed.
“Olamide has a passion for football from day one and he displays his potential. For Olamide, football is his utmost interest or desire in life and the only thing we could do as parents is to support him in his chosen career.
“I couldn’t forget the day he said to us, “football is my life” and I am like wow... he has spoken ! And it came to pass, ” she concluded.
Shodipo made his competitive debut for Queens Park Rangers on the opening day of the 2016-2017 season against Leeds United, ten months after his first appearance for the Republic of Ireland U19s.
