Spurs Eyoma Qualifies For World Cup With England, Idah Suffers Heartbreak
Published: May 14, 2017
Tottenham Hotspur defender of Nigerian descent Timothy Eyoma worked a full shift for England U17s as they qualified for October's Fifa U17 World Cup in India after a 1-0 win over Republic of Ireland in the U17 Euro quarterfinals.
Eyoma won the individual battle against the prolific Republic of Ireland striker Adam Idah, with the number ten failing to score.
Manchester City striker Jadon Sancho netted the only goal of the game in the 13th minute.
After the two best losing quarter-finalists were determined by UEFA on Saturday, Republic of Ireland didn't make the cut and will not be one of Europe's five representatives in India.
Eyoma and England will meet Turkey in the semifinal of the UEFA European Under-17 Championships on Tuesday, May 16.
