Injured Spurs RB Eyoma Watches On From Bench As England Are Beaten In U17 EURO Final
Published: May 19, 2017Tottenham Hotspur starlet of Nigerian descent Timothy Eyoma was an unused substitute as England lost to Spain via penalties in the final of the UEFA European Under-17 Championship on Friday night.
The right fullback started and completed every single of the Young Lions matches, five in total, before today's showpiece game at Stadion Anđelko Herjavec, Varaždin.
Eyoma, 17, was not considered for selection because of an injury he picked up and was replaced in the starting line-up by Joel Latibeaudiere.
On 18 minutes, Callum Hudson-Odoi opened the scoring for England, but Morey restored parity for the Spaniards just before half-time.
Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden scored to give England a 2-1 lead in the 58th minute, and they appeared to be on the brink of winning their third title but Nacho Diaz equalized in the sixth minute of stoppage time.
In the shootout, Spain converted all their four spot-kicks, while the Young Lions missed two of their three spot kicks.
