Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal Linked English-Born Nigerian Midfielder Omitted From Pre-Season Squad
Published: July 12, 2017
The future of English-born Nigerian midfielder Ross Barkley continues to dominate the headlines after he was left out of Everton's pre-season squad.
Twenty-five players were in the Toffees traveling party to Tanzania on Tuesday night, and Barkley was not selected by manager Ronald Koeman.
According to the Telegraph, it has been claimed that the attacking midfielder is currently receiving treatment for a groin injury, though he was pictured training two days ago.
Barkley is no longer wanted by Everton manager Koeman after talks on a new contract stalled, and the club moved quickly to sign Ajax Amsterdam star Davy Klaassen for £23.6million as his replacement.
The 23-year-old has been linked with the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
