Done Deal : Promising Nigerian Central Defender Signs Two-Year Deal With West Ham
Published: July 17, 2017
England U16 international of Nigerian ancestry Ajibola Alese has appended his signature to a new contract with Premier League side West Ham, with effect from July 1, 2017.
The central defender is joining the Hammers Academy as a first year scholar, and is in line to be offered a professional contract on or before the end of the 2018-2019 season.
Alese was a top target for Liverpool and Manchester City before he penned a new contract with West Ham, and it is thought they missed out on his signature after they were banned from signing academy players.
The 16-year-old featured in seven matches for West Ham in the U18 Premier League last term, scoring on the final day against Arsenal.
