Danish-Nigerian striker debuts for Arsenal U18s in 4-4 draw v Olofinjana's West Brom
Published: September 17, 2022
Danish-Nigerian striker Chido Obi-Martin made his competitive debut for Arsenal U18s as they were held to a 4-4 draw by West Brom in an U18 Premier League match staged at Shenley Training Centre in Hertfordshire on Saturday, September 17.
In what was his first squad involvement for the age group, the highly rated youngster entered the fray in the 74th minute as a replacement for Kaleel Green.
He was rewarded with a debut for the U18 side after a string of excellent performances for Arsenal's U15 and U16 teams.
Obi netted a double brace as Arsenal U16s thrashed Birmingham City 9-4 in a pre-season game in July and the following month scored a hat-trick as Arsenal U15s defeated the Women's team 5-0 in a behind closed doors friendly.
Central defender Femi Olofinjana went the distance for West Brom U18s in today's game.
If Femi's name does not ring a bell, you may recognize that he bears the same surname as retired Nigeria international Seyi Olofinjana, who is his father.
Kamara, Ferdinand, Green and Lewis-Skelly were on target for the young Gunners, while Heard, Love (2) and Higgins got on the scoresheet for the Baggies.
