Tottenham loanee Udogie battles Arsenal, Liverpool & Man Utd starlets, 35 others for Golden Boy
Published: September 18, 2022Destiny Udogie is the only Nigeria-eligible player included on a list of 40 candidates in the running for the Golden Boy Award 2022, a prize presented by Italian sports newspaper Tuttosport to the best player under 21 years of age in Europe.
Borussia Dortmund wonderkid Karim Adeyemi and Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala who are both cap-tied to Germany but of Nigerian descent have also made the cut.
Tottenham Hotspur loanee Udogie will battle Adeyemi, Musiala and thirty-seven other outstanding youngsters for the accolade.

The Premier League players who remain in the running for the award are Harvey Elliott and Fabio Carvalho (both Liverpool), Marquinhos (Arsenal), Anthony Elanga (Manchester United) and Wilfried Gnonto (Leeds United).
No Premier League player has won the Golden Boy since Manchester United striker Anthony Martial was presented with the award for 2015.
Udogie had a breakout season at Udinese in 2021-2022, registering eight goal involvements in 35 appearances in the Serie A and the exciting fullback has carried on where he left off last season with two goals in five games this term.
The shortlist will be reduced to 20 players next month before a winner is announced by Tuttosport.
