Official : Manchester United icon will no longer be coaching Ajayi at West Brom
Published: October 10, 2022With a statement on their official website, Championship strugglers West Brom announced on Monday morning that they have parted company with Manchester United icon Steve Bruce.
Backroom staff Steve Agnew, Stephen Clemence and Alex Bruce have also joined Steve Bruce out of The Hawthorns exit door.
Bruce has been relieved of his duties following a poor run of results and the straw that broke the camel's back was their failure to win at home against Luton Town at the weekend.
West Brom have not won any of their last eight matches in the Championship, the longest winless streak in the second tier of English football this season.
Nigeria international Semi Ajayi has not been involved in West Brom's last six games in the division as he is still recovering from an ankle injury that required surgery,
The central defender suffered the injury during the match against Wigan Athletic on August 30, leading to his substitution after twenty minutes.
Prior to his spell on the sidelines, West Brom suffered only one loss from seven league matches, all of which the Nigerian started.
Ajayi registered twenty-three appearances in the Championship with Steve Bruce in the dugout, logging 1,972 minutes in total.
West Brom confirmed that Under-21s coach Richard Beale will oversee first-team affairs for the time being.
