'It was an average ball' - Liverpool legend lauds Dennis for making the most of his chance to score

Nottingham Forest's shambolic run of form continued as they played out a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa on Monday night.

On hs full league debut for the Reds, Super Eagles forward Emmanuel Dennis reacted quickest to put the hosts ahead in the 15th minute with his first goal of the season.

The former Watford star headed home from a Morgan Gibbs-White's in swinger but seven minutes later, the visitors got back into the game courtesy of a goal by Ashley Young.

The ball arrived at the feet of Young on the edge of the box and he fired into the bottom corner.

Speaking on Premier League Productions after the game, Liverpool legend Michael Owen praised Emmanuel Dennis for making use of the little opportunity he got to find the back of the net.

Owen said on Dennis' goal: "I don't think that the ball was meant to come behind everybody. We highlighted the area that normally a ball would go into.

"We might be doing him a disservice but I think it was an average ball and Dennis made the most of it".

Since making his league debut in the game against Tottenham Hotspur, the Nigeria international has played in six matches in the English top-flight and was in action for 159 minutes.

Dennis has found the net in each of his three matches against Aston Villa since landing in England from Belgium last summer.
