Real Madrid aiming to raise N21.8b by selling Akinlabi and seven players
Published: July 17, 2023
After spending €128.50m to land the signatures of four players in the summer transfer window, La Liga giants Real Madrid want to generate funds by selling some of the outstanding Castilla players.
Jude Bellingham, Arda Güler, Fran García and Joselu were brought in from Borussia Dortmund, Fenerbahce, Rayo Vallecano and Espanyol respectively.
Spanish sports daily Marca has reported that Spanish-Nigerian-South Korean winger Marvin Akinlabi Park is among the youth team players with potential who don't have a place in the first team in the forthcoming season.
Los Blancos are aiming to sell Akinlabi, Sergio Arribas, Rafa Marin, Carlos Dotor, Alvaro Martin, Antonio Blanco, Bruno Iglesias and Julen Jon Guerrero to raise 25 million euros (approximately N21.8 billion in Nigerian currency).
If the aforementioned players are transferred to other clubs, Los Blancos are planning to include a buyback clause into their contracts in case they impress.
Akinlabi has been on the books of Real Madrid since 2016 after previously wearing the jerseys of Ciutat de Palma, Tranmere Rovers, La Salle and Penya Arrabal.
Before his season-long loan move to UD Las Palmas last summer, the 23-year-old registered four appearances for Real Madrid's first team, with all of them coming in La Liga.
Born in Spain to a Nigerian father and South Korean mother, Akinlabi is attracting interest from Rayo Vallecano.
