Fact-check: Insider reveals the truth about reports linking Super Eagles midfielder to West Ham
Published: June 30, 2025
Respected West Ham United reporter ExWHUEmployee has dismissed reports linking the Hammers with a move for Nigeria international Raphael Onyedika, stating there is no concrete interest from the London club at this time.
The Club Brugge midfielder has been the subject of transfer speculation following a standout campaign, with expectations high that he will leave the Belgian side before the summer window closes.
Onyedika was a key member of the Club Brugge side that caused an upset when they beat 2024 Europa League winners Atalanta home and away in the Champions League back in February.
The Nigeria national teamer played in eleven Champions League games last term and notably scored against Premier League giants Manchester City.
He is now looked after by world-leading sports agency CAA Stellar, known for its strong Premier League connections.
However, West Ham are not among the English top-flight clubs pushing to sign Onyedika, as of now.
"West Ham have denied reports that they are in advanced talks for Raphael Onyedika of Club Brugge with no offer having been made yet,"ExWHUEmployee confirmed on The West Ham Way Patreon on June 26, 2025.
Ahead of pre-season with Club Brugge, Onyedika has been spotted keeping fit at the Marbella Football Center, where he trained alongside international teammate Victor Boniface.
He is under contract with Club Brugge until June 2027, having joined from Danish side FC Midtjylland in 2022.
