Ivory Coast-bound Flying Eagles to hold pre-Afcon training camp in Katsina

Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that Nigeria's U-20 national team, the Flying Eagles, will hold a pre-Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) training camp in Katsina as part of their preparations for the 2025 tournament in Ivory Coast. 

The camp will provide an opportunity for the coaching staff to fine-tune tactics and assess player performances before the squad departs for the competition.

The decision to set up camp in Katsina follows the team’s recent 2-0 defeat to Ivory Coast in a friendly match. 

The loss highlighted areas needing improvement, and the upcoming training sessions will focus on addressing those weaknesses. 

The technical crew is expected to use this period to work on team cohesion, defensive organization, and attacking efficiency.

Several new players are set to join the squad in Katsina, including some who were previously unavailable due to club commitments abroad. 

The coaching staff has also identified potential additions from the domestic league, with further scouting expected before the final squad list is determined.

Nigeria has been drawn into a challenging group at the U-20 AFCON, featuring Egypt, Morocco, and South Africa. 

The training camp in Katsina will serve as a crucial phase in the team’s preparation, ensuring they arrive in Ivory Coast in peak condition.
