Chelsea's youngest Nigerian scorer in European competition in travelling squad to face Djurgarden
Published: April 30, 2025
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has taken two London-born Nigerian players to Sweden ahead of Thursday's Conference League semi-final first leg against Djurgarden.
Tyrique George and Tosin Adarabioyo are set to be named in the matchday squad for tomorrow's game in the Swedish capital, with both players already in Sweden with the Chelsea team.
Richard Olise, younger brother of former Super Eagles invitee Michael Olise, is not in contention to make his senior debut for Chelsea as he was not included in the travelling squad even though he has been registered for the Conference League.
George entered the record books as the youngest Nigeria-eligible player to score for Chelsea in European competition after netting his first senior goal during the Blues' impressive 3-0 road win over Legia Warsaw in the Conference League, aged 19 years and 65 days.
Including the qualifying rounds, the forward has appeared in eleven Conference League matches this season, while Tosin has played in ten, scoring once in the historic 8-0 win against FC Noah.
As Chelsea gear up to face Djurgarden, they can take inspiration from their 2021 Champions League triumph—the last time they reached a European semi-final.
Enzo Maresca remains cautious, especially after their 2-1 loss to Legia Warsaw in the second leg of the Conference League quarterfinal, their first defeat in the competition proper.
In their four previous visits to Sweden, Chelsea have recorded two victories and two draws, avoiding defeat each time.
