Confirmed: Blackpool release Tottenham Hotspur-reared midfielder Josh Onomah
Published: May 06, 2025
With a statement on the official website, Blackpool have published their retained and released list following the conclusion of the 2024-2025 season, including decisions on three Nigerian players.
Tottenham Hotspur academy product Josh Onomah will depart the Seasiders following the expiration of his contract on June 30, 2025.
Onomah played eighteen matches in all competitions for Blackpool, scoring one goal and providing an assist.
Apart from Tottenham Hotspur, the London native lists Aston Villa, Sheffield Wednesday, Fulham and Preston North End as his previous clubs.
Onomah logged 32 first team games during his time at Tottenham Hotspur, including thirteen in the Premier League.
Blackpool have also confirmed that 2019 Golden Eaglets invitee Odeluga Offiah has returned to his parent club, Brighton & Hove Albion, to whom he is contracted until the end of the season.
The versatile defender started 40 of Blackpool’s 46 matches in the third tier of English football during the recently concluded season.
Offiah has made ten senior appearances for the Seagulls since arriving from Bromley in 2017.
Meanwhile, Johnson Opawole, 18, has been offered a professional contract by Blackpool and is expected to report for pre-season training if terms are agreed.
A centre-back by trade, Opawole has yet to make his first team debut for Blackpool.
