Crystal Palace join race for Dutch-Nigerian-Togolese attacker linked with Chelsea
Published: May 12, 2025
Crystal Palace are the latest Premier League club linked with a summer move for Strasbourg's Dutch-Nigerian-Togolese attacker Emanuel Emegha.
According to The Sun UK, Crystal Palace are chasing Emanuel Emegha — in case Jean-Philippe Mateta is sold.
There is speculation over the future of the 2024 Olympic Games silver medalist despite the forward still contracted to the Eagles for two more seasons.
An opportunity to play in the Champions League could prove too tempting to resist.
Crystal Palace are planning for a potential departure of Mateta and have earmarked Emegha as a possible successor.
Chelsea, who share ownership with Strasbourg, are keeping a close eye on Emegha’s progress, with the striker impressing in Ligue 1 in recent months following an inconsistent debut campaign.
The Blues recruitment team have been impressed by his performances this season, and negotiations shouldn't be an issue due to their affiliation with Strasbourg.
Emegha has scored 14 goals in 27 matches, a tally bettered by only four players in Ligue 1: Ousmane Dembélé, Mason Greenwood, Arnaud Kalimuendo and Jonathan David.
Everton, Fulham, West Ham United and Brentford have also been credited with an interest in the 22-year-old, who is on the radar of Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle ahead of the resumption of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Emegha was not called up for Strasbourg's last game in the French top division due to injury.
