EFL club owned by Man Utd legends offer new deals to Olopade, Adelakun; Okoronkwo returns to Everton
Published: May 12, 2025
Following the completion of the 2024-2025 season, EFL League Two club Salford City have announced their retained and released list, including decisions on three Nigerian players.
Earlier this month, Salford City announced that the club has been acquired by a new ownership group led by Manchester United legends David Beckham and Gary Neville, together with US-based businessman Declan Kelly and Lord Mervyn Davies who will both serve as new co-chairs of the club's Board.
Salford City have offered new deals to seven players, including Nigerian duo Tosin Olopade and Hakeeb Adelakun.
A right-back by trade, Olopade has made seven first team appearances for Salford City since joining the club from Burnley in 2023.
The 20-year-old made his first ever start in League Two on the opening day of the season as The Ammies were beaten by Port Vale.
Adelakun arrived at Salford City 2024 after stops at Crystal Palace, West Ham United, Scunthorpe United, Rotherham United, Hull City, Bristol City, Lincoln City, Gillingham and Doncaster Rovers.
Aged 28, the forward has 13 goals and 4 assists in thirty-two all-competition appearances for Salford.
Meanwhile, Everton loanee Francis Okoronkwo has returned to his parent club following the expiry of his loan deal.
In his first taste of senior football, the former Sunderland youth teamer scored four goals in twenty-four matches.
