Quad-national midfielder eligible for Nigeria, Spain, England and India set to leave Arsenal
Published: May 14, 2025
Quad-national midfielder Zac Shuaib is expected to leave Premier League club Arsenal at the end of the 2024–2025 season, according to a report by respected Arsenal youth team insider Jeorge Bird.
Shuaib, who is eligible to represent England, Nigeria, Spain and India has not been offered a professional contract by the North London side.
With his current deal set to expire, the 18-year-old appears poised to part ways with the Gunners in the coming weeks.
Born in London, Shuaib qualifies to play for England and Nigeria through his father, and for Spain and India via his mother.
His future at Arsenal has grown increasingly uncertain, reflected in his limited involvement with the youth setup this season.
He made just five appearances in the U18 Premier League this term, including one start.
Signs of his impending departure became more evident in March 2025 when Arsenal granted him permission to train with Brighton & Hove's youth team — a clear indication that he is not in the club’s long-term plans.
The following month, he featured as a trialist for Spanish side Real Sociedad's U18 team in the MIC Football tournament in Girona, suggesting he is exploring opportunities abroad.
Shuaib's football journey began at the age of seven with Chiswick Youth.
He went on to represent Hanwell FC, Focus Football, London Colney Colts, and Tottenham Hotspur before joining Arsenal’s prestigious Hale End Academy in March 2022.
He is not the only young Nigerian player facing an uncertain future at the Emirates.
Forward Daniel Oyetunde, part of Arsenal's 2023–2024 intake, could also be on his way out if new terms are not offered before the season concludes.
