Should Eric Chelle be worried? England boss watches Chelsea CB Tosin shine against Man Utd

England manager Thomas Tuchel was in attendance on Friday night as Chelsea boosted their hopes of a top-five finish and Champions League football next season with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Manchester United in their final home game of the campaign.

While the exact target of Tuchel’s scouting mission remains unclear, several England internationals featured prominently in the Premier League matchday 37 fixture.

Noni Madueke, Cole Palmer, Reece James and Levi Colwill started for the Blues, while Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Mason Mount and Kobbie Mainoo lined up for the Red Devils.

One standout performer who may have drawn Tuchel's attention was Tosin Adarabioyo, whose international future continues to stir debate in Nigeria.

Born in London to Nigerian parents, the towering centre-back remains eligible for the Super Eagles despite representing England at youth level.

His name has regularly surfaced in Nigerian media as a potential call-up ahead of the resumption of the 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers.

Tosin delivered a commanding display in defence, helping goalkeeper Robert Sánchez keep a clean sheet.

The 27-year-old recorded a game-high five clearances and made three key tackles, underlining his influence in the heart of Chelsea's backline.

Super Eagles boss Eric Chelle is understood to be monitoring Tosin, who remains uncapped at senior level and is among several dual national players being considered to strengthen the squad ahead of the resumption of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The decisive moment came in the 71st minute when Marc Cucurella headed home after a sublime assist from captain Reece James.

The result temporarily lifts Chelsea to fourth place in the Premier League table ahead of their trip to Nottingham Forest next weekend.

Tosin's impressive performance against Manchester United may well have added a new layer to his evolving international saga.
