Super Eagles forward returns to Nottingham Forest after loan spell at Blackburn Rovers

Nottingham Forest forward Emmanuel Dennis will not be joining Blackburn Rovers on a permanent deal following the conclusion of his loan spell at Ewood Park.

Blackburn Rovers confirmed their retained and released list on Monday, with Dennis among five loanees set to return to their parent clubs.

Others departing include Owen Beck, Amario Cozier-Duberry, Dion Sanderson, and Cauley Woodrow.

Dennis made the temporary switch to Blackburn in the January transfer window in search of regular playing time, having been sidelined by Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espírito Santo during the first half of the campaign.

The Nigerian international was left out of Forest’s Premier League squad and failed to feature in any domestic cup fixtures.

However, his stint at Blackburn was hampered by fitness issues, which saw him miss six consecutive Championship matches.

He managed just 222 minutes across seven appearances in all competitions, with only one start to his name.

The 27-year-old is in the final year of his contract at Nottingham Forest, and with Nuno still in charge, his future at the City Ground remains uncertain and will likely be a topic of transfer speculation this summer.

Meanwhile, Blackburn Rovers have opted to retain United States U20 international Leo Duru.

The right-back, who is of Nigerian descent, impressed during a loan spell at League Two side Barrow, where he made eight appearances and netted his first senior goal.
