Liverpool offer new deal to talented defender eligible for Nigeria, Spain and England

Premier League champions Liverpool are working to secure the long-term future of highly rated central defender Wellity Lucky, whose current contract is set to expire on June 30.
The 19-year-old, who is eligible to represent England, Spain and Nigeria, has been offered a new four-year deal, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
However, the Reds face stiff competition from clubs in Spain and Germany, both of which are reportedly in negotiations to sign the versatile defender.
Born in Zaragoza to Nigerian parents, Lucky began his football journey with San Gregorio Arrabal and Real Zaragoza before relocating to England with his family.
He joined Liverpool's Academy as an U13 and signed his first professional contract with the club in April 2023.
Internationally, Lucky has represented England at U15 and U16 levels and was invited to Spain's U17 squad for a friendly against Italy in January 2023, though he did not feature in the match.
Lucky made his competitive debut for Liverpool's U18s while still a schoolboy and has continued to develop within the club's youth system.
During the 2024-2025 season, he featured in 17 matches across the Premier League 2, UEFA Youth League and EFL Trophy, showcasing his growing potential as a modern central defender.
With his contract nearing its end, Liverpool will be eager to fend off foreign interest and tie down one of their most promising young talents.
