Will he make it? Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle sweating over Chukwueze's fitness pre-Ghana
Published: May 21, 2025
Super Eagles manager Eric Chelle is sweating over the fitness of Samuel Chukwueze ahead of the clash against the Black Stars of Ghana in the Unity Cup tournament in London.
Chukwueze, despite the tough campaign with AC Milan, was invited to the Super Eagles 26-man squad for the upcoming Unity Cup and the 21-player list for the international friendly against Russia.
He missed AC Milan's 3-1 defeat to AS Roma at the Stadio Olimpico due to injury.
The winger was ruled out after suffering inflammation of the pubic bone during a training session in the buildup to the match.
According to the Italian outlet, Milanpress, Chukwueze is in a race against time to be fit for AC Milan's clash against Monza on Saturday, May 24, at the San Siro.
The situation has created uncertainty over his availability for the clash against Ghana at the Gtech Community Stadium in London on Wednesday, May 28.
Meanwhile, Eric Chelle will be hoping Chukwueze passes his fitness test and recovers in time for the clash against Ghana, especially with Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen absent from the squad.
The 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup winner has made 33 Serie A appearances this season, including nine starts.
