Fabrizio Romano reveals when Dutch-Nigerian-Togolese forward could join Chelsea
Published: May 27, 2025
Transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano has ruled out the possibility of tri-national forward Emanuel Emegha departing Strasbourg in the summer transfer window.
Born in the Netherlands, he is also eligible to play for Nigeria's Super Eagles and Togo's Sparrowhawks through his mother and father respectively.
The Italian revealed that Chelsea are considering signing Emegha but the plan is for him to remain at the French Ligue 1 club until the summer of 2026.
Strasbourg want Emegha to lead the line in next season's UEFA Conference League playoff round, a competition they qualified for after Paris Saint-Germain beat Reims in the Coupe de France final.
The 22-year-old had a breakout campaign at Strasbourg, registering seventeen goal involvements (14 goals, 3 assists) in twenty-seven outings in the French top-flight.
Only Ousmane Dembele, Mason Greenwood, Arnaud Kalimuendo, Jonathan David and Alexandre Lacazette scored more goals than Emegha in the recently concluded season.
Chelsea's recruitment team have been impressed by Emegha's performances, and negotiations shouldn't be an issue due to their affiliation with Strasbourg.
Emegha had spells at KRSV Vredenburch, Sparta Rotterdam, Royal Antwerp and Sturm Graz before joining Strasbourg in 2023.
