Team news: Nigerian duo set to be named in Chelsea's matchday squad to face Real Betis
Published: May 27, 2025
Nigerian duo Tosin Adarabioyo and Tyrique George are expected to be included in Chelsea's matchday squad for Wednesday evening's UEFA Conference League final against Real Betis at Stadion Wrocław in Poland.
Both players were part of the 27-man travelling party that flew to Poland on Tuesday and participated in Chelsea's final training session at the match venue—an indication they are in contention for selection in the matchday squad.
While head coach Enzo Maresca has named a large travelling contingent, Marcus Bettinelli, Wesley Fofana, Aaron Anselmino and Romeo Lavia are ineligible for the competition, leaving 23 registered players available for selection.
With UEFA permitting 12 substitutes on the bench, Tosin and George are expected to make the cut, especially with no fitness concerns surrounding either player.
Tosin has featured prominently in Chelsea’s Conference League campaign, earning call-ups for every match and making 10 appearances, and scored a goal in the 8–0 thrashing of FC Noah.
Having featured in every game, George demonstrated his influence by scoring against Legia Warsaw and setting up goals in matches against FC Copenhagen and Djurgardens IF.
Chelsea are aiming to make history by becoming the first club to win all major UEFA competition, having previously lifted the Champions League, Europa League and Cup Winners' Cup.
