What 19yo forward Tyrique George said after winning Conference League with Chelsea

Chelsea capped off their collection of major UEFA trophies with a comeback victory over Real Betis in the Conference League final on Wednesday night.

The Blues have become the first club to win all five European competitions including the Champions League, Europa League, Cup Winners Cup, Super Cup and Conference League.

Chelsea conceded first but second half goals from Enzo Fernández, Nicolas Jackson, Jadon Sancho and Moisés Caicedo ensured that they returned to London with the Conference League trophy.

England U19 international of Nigerian descent Tyrique George was named in Chelsea's matchday squad for the showpiece at Wroclaw, but remained on the bench for the entirety of the game.

The UEFA Conference League marked Tyrique George's first involvement with Chelsea's senior squad, following his professional debut in a qualifying round clash against Servette FC on August 29, 2024.

The 19-year-old forward featured in all 12 of Chelsea's matches en route to the final, contributing one goal and two assists during the club’s triumphant European campaign.

Speaking to Chelsea's YouTube page after the final versus Real Betis, George stated: "It's incredible. Really from a young age, you dream of these moments, so to win it is crazy.

"It's a great feeling, just adapting, all the time it has been great, so really happy."

George and another London-born player Tosin Adarabioyo are the first Nigeria-eligible players to win the UEFA Conference League.
