Manchester United striker Chido Obi wins award at Maurice Revello Tournament
Published: June 15, 2025
Manchester United striker Chido Obi has received individual recognition at the Maurice Revello Tournament, one of the most prestigious competitions in international youth football.
Formerly regarded as the unofficial world championship for youth teams prior to the introduction of the Fifa U20 World Cup, the tournament has a long-standing tradition of showcasing emerging talent.
Denmark U20s won the third place playoff, beating Mexico 2-1 on Sunday.
After the bronze medal match, Obi shared a photo of a trophy on his Instagram profile with the caption 'Player of the Tournament', but the Danish Football Association informed Bold that it was a special award presented by the organisers.
The Nigeria-eligible striker scored two goals and provided an assist in four games during the tournament in France.
Obi’s accolade further underscores his rising profile on the international stage.
The 17-year-old has already made two appearances for Denmark's U21 national team, coming off the bench in two friendlies against Poland and Italy back in March.
Last season, he made eight appearances for Manchester United’s first team before scoring his first two senior goals in a post-season friendly against Hong Kong, earning the club’s Man of the Match award for his performance off the bench.
Obi bagged hat-tricks against Nottingham Forest and Chelsea in the U18 Premier League and FA Youth Cup respectively in his first season at United.
