Confirmed: Nigerian forward signs new deal with Newcastle United ahead of next season

With a statement on the official website, Premier League club Newcastle United have announced that three academy players have signed new deals ahead of next season, including English-born Nigeria forward Trevan Sanusi.

Sanusi has committed his future to Newcastle United alongside Sean Neave and Leo Shahar, while Sam Alabi, Michael Mills, and Sammy Pinnington have agreed first-year scholarship deals.

Sanusi inked his first professional contract with the Magpies in May 2024 and he has been rewarded with a new deal after making his senior debut.

The 18-year-old made his first team debut in an Emirates FA Cup clash at St James' Park, coming off the bench for the final twenty-one minutes of a 3-1 victory over Bromley.

The exciting winger also made appearances in Premier League 2, U18 Premier League, FA Youth Cup and EFL Trophy last term.

A winger capable of playing on both flanks, he scored on his full home debut for United’s second-string in a Premier League 2 clash against Chelsea in March 2024.

Before sealing a move to Newcastle United, the highly rated youngster was named on the bench for Birmingham City’s final Championship fixture of the 2022–2023 season against Sheffield United, marking the milestone at just 16 years old.

Sanusi trained with Newcastle United's first team during preparations for the 2024-2025 season, featuring in friendly matches against Hull City, Girona and Stade Brestois.
