Towering Nigerian forward signs new contract at Preston North End after Burnley exit
Published: July 01, 2025
Through a statement on the official website, Championship outfit Preston North End have announced the latest intake of academy scholars.
All players in their U17 year must start the 2025-2026 season on a scholarship agreement before they are permitted to sign a first professional football contract on or after their 17th birthday.
Nigerian striker Michael Ayodele is among ten academy prospects to sign scholarship terms with Preston North End, marking a key step in their development towards first team football.
Offering insight into Ayodele’s profile, Preston's website described him as a goalscorer standing at over 6ft, he is quick, and likes to run in behind.
He joined the Lilywhites as a schoolboy last season following his departure from Burnley.
The forward has already made his debut for Preston U19s in the Youth Alliance League, and was on target for the U18s against Morecambe Academy in a Youth Alliance Cup clash in December 2024.
Ayodele featured as a late substitute as Preston North End were beaten 5-2 by a Chido Obi-inspired Manchester United in the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup in January.
His new deal with Preston North End will keep him at the club until June 30, 2027.
