Romano confirms Arsenal waived training compensation in Shuaib's move to Real Sociedad
Published: July 15, 2025
Real Sociedad have secured the signing of promising 18-year-old midfielder Zac Shuaib from Arsenal, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirming that the Premier League side waived training compensation to facilitate the move.
Shuaib, born in 2007, joins the La Liga club on a free transfer after his contract with Arsenal expired in June 2025.
The transfer highlights the strengthening relationship between the two clubs, who recently completed the €65 million deal that took Martin Zubimendi to the Emirates.
Arsenal’s gesture in waiving compensation underlines this cooperation and allowed Shuaib to complete his switch smoothly.
After impressing on trial, Shuaib is set to start his career in Spain with Real Sociedad C, who compete in Tercera RFEF.
His potential to progress through the ranks is clear, with the youngster previously representing Real Sociedad’s U18s in tournaments like the MIC Football.
Shuaib, who also had a trial spell with Brighton, models his game on Barcelona legend Sergio Busquets, aspiring to dictate the tempo from midfield.
Real Sociedad view Shuaib’s arrival as a strategic investment in their future, aligning with the club’s proud tradition of nurturing young talent.
For Shuaib, the move marks both a return to his family’s roots and the next step in his development as a defensive midfielder with ambition and promise.
