Galatasaray insider on Osimhen saga: N133b clause, N71b upfront and bank guarantee holding up deal
Published: July 17, 2025
Galatasaray insider Serkan Korkmaz has offered fresh insight into the ongoing negotiations between the Yellow-Reds and Napoli regarding the potential permanent transfer of Victor Osimhen to Istanbul.
The Nigerian international, who enjoyed a standout season on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, has already agreed personal terms for a permanent return to the Turkish giants.
Although personal terms have been agreed, Galatasaray are yet to finalize financial terms with Napoli, particularly regarding the structure of the €75 million (approximately N133 billion in Nigerian currency) release clause.
Napoli are reportedly demanding that €40 million (N71b) of the fee be paid upfront, with the remaining €35 million spread out in installments.
Crucially, the Italian club is also insisting on bank guarantees to secure the installment payments — a requirement that has complicated proceedings.
Korkmaz revealed the complexity of meeting Napoli’s financial conditions.
"The process for the guarantees requested regarding Osimhen will apparently take a bit longer," he was quoted as saying by habersarikirmizi.com.
"Napoli requested a letter of guarantee that would be acceptable to a bank (I cannot use the name for legal reasons). Based on my research, this is not a document that can be issued in a few days."
Despite the delay, the mood within Galatasaray's management remains optimistic.
"Napoli's demands today are interpreted by Dursun Özbek and the management as 'the Osimhen transfer is progressing positively,'” Korkmaz added.
Osimhen delivered a stellar campaign during his loan spell in Istanbul, netting 37 goals and registering eight assists in 41 appearances across all competitions.
His contribution was instrumental in Galatasaray's domestic double title.
