'Nearing completion' – Galatasaray coach confirms Osimhen's transfer to Turkish champions is imminent
Published: July 21, 2025
Galatasaray are on the verge of completing one of the most stunning transfers of the summer, with Victor Osimhen set to join the Turkish champions from Napoli.
A verbal agreement is in place and the exchange of documents between clubs is expected within the next 24 hours.
Galatasaray will pay €40 million upfront, with a further €35 million due in a year.
Additionally, Napoli will receive ten percent of any future profit from a potential resale, and performance-related bonuses tied to Osimhen’s goal tally have also been included.
To avoid reinforcing a domestic rival, Napoli included a clause blocking Osimhen's transfer to any Italian club for the next two seasons.
Osimhen's move brings to an end a prolonged transfer saga, with several European clubs previously linked to the Nigeria international.
Speaking to reporters ahead of Monday's training session, Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk confirmed that the deal is close to being finalised.
"Everything is positive regarding the Osimhen transfer. We are nearing completion," Buruk said.
"We hope it will be concluded positively soon. Our entire transfer situation was about Osimhen.
"A significant budget has been allocated. Once that is finalised, we are looking at what we can do.”
Osimhen, who joined Napoli from Lille in 2020, played a crucial role in delivering the club's historic 2022-2023 Serie A title, scoring 26 league goals that season.
On loan at Galatasaray for the 2024–2025 campaign, the former African Footballer of the Year delivered an outstanding return of 37 goals in 41 games, helping the club claim both league and cup honours.
