'Popped up with 5 goals' – Chelsea hail Super Eagles target Tosin for brilliant first season

Reviewing the performances of their players during the 2024-2025 season, Chelsea have praised Tosin Adarabioyo for an impressive debut campaign at Stamford Bridge, describing the centre-back's first season as a 'resounding success'.

Tosin joined Chelsea last summer after rejecting a lucrative contract extension at Fulham, which would have placed him among the club's highest earners.

Featuring in five different competitions, Tosin not only proved solid at the back but also contributed going forward, scoring five goals in all competitions - his career best in a single season.

He got on the scoresheet in four different competitions, scoring against FC Noah in the Uefa Conference League, Esperance in the Fifa Club World Cup and Southampton in the Premier League, while also bagging a memorable brace in a commanding FA Cup victory over Morecambe.

"Tosin’s first season at Stamford Bridge was a resounding success. He appeared in five different competitions, popped up with five goals, and rarely put a foot wrong when called upon by Enzo Maresca," Chelsea wrote on their official website

The towering centre-back was part of a Chelsea defence that kept five clean sheets in his last six Premier League starts.

His standout display came on the final day of the league campaign, where he delivered a commanding performance at the City Ground.

Earlier in the season, a vital block at Goodison Park was hailed by the club as 'as good as a goal'.

Tosin also shone on the continental stage, starting 12 matches in the UEFA Conference League, playing a key role in Chelsea's first-ever triumph in the competition.

This summer, he continued his fine form as the Blues went on to lift the Fifa Club World Cup in the United States.

His performances have not gone unnoticed by the Nigeria Football Federation, with Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle keeping close tabs on the defender as they look to strengthen their backline ahead of upcoming international fixtures.
