Real Sociedad striker Sadiq fancies return to Valencia over foreign offers
Published: July 29, 2025
Nigerian striker Umar Sadiq is reportedly open to a return to Valencia as uncertainty continues to surround his future at Real Sociedad.
According to a report by Estadio Deportivo, the 28-year-old forward, who enjoyed a productive loan spell at Mestalla during the second half of last season, remains hopeful of staying in La Liga despite receiving offers from clubs in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey.
Valencia have made signing a new striker their top priority this summer, even pausing the transfer of Nicolás Fonseca from Club León due to financial constraints.
With the club operating under a strict salary cap, any new additions must be carefully balanced against existing commitments.
Sadiq, who helped Valencia avoid relegation last season with crucial goals, returned to Real Sociedad after the club chose not to trigger the €9.5 million purchase option in his loan agreement.
However, both the player and Valencia have left the door open for a potential reunion, pending the club’s ability to finalize the necessary financial arrangements.
The forward is said to feel comfortable in La Liga and is keen to avoid moving to leagues where adaptation may be difficult, particularly in a World Cup year.
He is also determined to fight for a place in the Super Eagles squad, with Nigeria set to play crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers and the Africa Cup of Nations later this year.
This gives Valencia a potential edge over foreign suitors, although they may face competition from Alavés, who are in the market for a forward following the sale of Panichelli to Strasbourg for €16.5 million.
Valencia head coach Carlos Corberán remains hopeful of adding a proven striker to his squad before the window closes and Sadiq’s familiarity with the club makes him a compelling option.
The club is also exploring late-window deals that could involve loan moves, depending on how their financial situation evolves.
