Lookman's transfer saga continues as Inter Milan's fresh bid fails to seal deal

Inter Milan have stepped up their pursuit of Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman, tabling an improved offer in hopes of prising the striker away from Serie A rivals Atalanta.

According to transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, the Nerazzurri have submitted a fresh bid worth €40 million, with an additional €5 million in performance-related bonuses, but there's no agreement between the two clubs at this stage.

Inter Milan are keen to bolster their attack ahead of the new season, with Lookman now emerging as their primary target.

The 27-year-old impressed last term, registering 27 goal involvements in all competitions, further cementing his status as one of the league's best forwards.

His performances have not gone unnoticed, and Inter are believed to see him as a perfect fit to inject pace and creativity into their frontline.

However, Atalanta are holding firm on their valuation, with the Bergamo-based outfit demanding €50 million for the former RB Leipzig man, a significant profit on the €11 million they paid to secure his services in the summer of 2022.

Lookman is under contract until 2027, giving Atalanta leverage in ongoing negotiations.

Inter president Giuseppe Marotta has hinted that the coming days could be decisive in determining the outcome of the deal, but Atalanta’s stance remains a major hurdle.
