Combined transfer fees: Osimhen now 10th in the world; overtakes Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd alums
Published: July 31, 2025
Victor Osimhen is now the tenth most expensive player in history, subject to the Nigeria international passing a routine medical at Galatasaray on Thursday, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Italian Serie A champions Napoli have ended their collaboration with the former African Footballer of the Year in exchange for 75 million euros.
The deal will see Galatasaray pay €40 million upfront, with the remaining €35 million to be paid in installments over the next year.
In terms of combined transfer fees, European clubs have now spent 183.3 million euros on the Super Eagles striker.
After bursting onto the scene at the 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup—where he won the Golden Boot—German Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg signed him from Ultimate Strikers Academy for €3.5 million.
Belgian outfit Sporting Charleroi later acquired Osimhen on a permanent basis for the same fee following a successful loan spell, before selling him to French Ligue 1 side Lille for €22.4 million.
Napoli splashed €78.9 million to sign the Nigerian forward from Lille in 2020, and with his imminent €75 million move to Galatasaray, his total transfer value has now climbed to €183.3 million.
According to data from Transfermarkt, Osimhen has overtaken former Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho (11th, €180.3m), Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé (12th, €180m), ex-Manchester United forwards Ángel Di María (13th, €179m) and Zlatan Ibrahimović (14th, €169.1m) in the all-time combined transfer fees ranking.
Osimhen is also now more expensive than four players with a Chelsea background—World Cup winner Enzo Fernández (15th, €165.25m), former Juventus and Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuaín (16th, €159m), ex-Real Madrid and Chelsea winger Eden Hazard (18th, €155.8m), and Arsenal's Kai Havertz (19th, €155m), who previously played for Chelsea.
